Janet:
Charles Caleb Ezell was the son of Alexander Ezell and his second wife, Sarah (unknown).Alexander was born about 1799 in NC and probably died in FL.He apparently lived in Duplin and Sampson Counties in NC and moved his family to Taylor Co, FL by 1 June 1859, since he purchased 199.83 acres there on that date.(He purchased another 119.94 acres on 2 July 1860).
Alexander married Rebecca (Unknown) on 15 November 1821 and they had 10 children.Rebecca died 5 March 1841 and Alexander then married Sarah (Unknown) on 30 May 1844.They had six children, the oldest being Charles Caleb, born 25 March 1845 in Duplin Co, NC. The other children were David L., Alexander Lafayette, Robert Marshall, Benjamin Buchannon and Callie.
Charles Caleb (called "CC") married Bethana Lundy probably before 1867 (birth year of first child) and they had children Solemnia, Robert, Columbus J., Sarah F. and Joseph S.
Bethana apparently died and CC married Charity Ann Driggers on 12 Mary 1878 in Madison Co, FL.They had children Eleanor, Mary Jane, Lula and Jessie.
In his life, CC was listed as being a farmer and a wheelwright. He died 10 October 1905 of malarial fever at Cedar Key, Levy Co, FL.
CC's daughter, Mary Jane, was my grandmother, but I never knew her.I haven't been able to find Alexander's family back in NC, but I do have further info on some of the siblings and half-siblings of CC. I believe that Berry Driggers, listed on the Cow Cavalry roster along with CC and his brothers, was related to CC's future wife, Charity Ann, but I don't know the exact relationship.
Does this help?
