You will find quite a few Charles Ezzell or Ezell"s in N.C. The Ezel name camt to Va in 1635 (Off the top of mt head). They were French Hugenots who fled to England. Timothy came as a indentured servant. Index reecord shows. This family sprend out in the beginning mainly to areas of N.C. Tenn and Kentucky and then 1800"s kept moving as the Indians moved out and there where land grants. I would say the reason you can not find info is so many people were illiterate and records were destroyed. There are a lot of records out there. You just have to keep looking. My first cousin started this in 1972when there was not this much interest. The odd thing I have is not the people in the 1700"s or early 1800"s are what happens to orphans who were orphaned during the Civil war. I have this problem with my Grandads family. I only no where one who was raised with him and one who was killed during Civil War. I have even posted exact birthdates with there names on Genforum under Ezzell (Ezzell, Ezell and Ezzelle can be spelled ) as my Grandad had the family Bible . Thes birth dades go from 1837-1854 but I have never yet found any kin. Keep looking. If I can help, let me no.Thelma Ezzell Peters. E-Mail [email protected]
