Hi David
i don't know if your dates are a little out at all but i have a james eyre in my family tree. He was my Great Great Grandad and in the 1871 census he is shown as age 40 which means he was born in 1831 and this ties up with him in the 1851 census where he is shown age 20 and born at 127 Millgate in Rotherham in South Yorkshire england. He is shown in 1871 census as married to Sarah eyre nee jessop. There are a list of children shown as edward 14, frederick 16, Harriet 2, Martha 8, Mary 10, Walter 12 and William 5 and they lived in Attercliffe, Sheffield south yorkshire. Your grandfather was obviously born 2 years later.
