I have another article on this house from a "Historic Garden Week" folder, printed in 1974:
"The land was patented to John, Thomas, and Daniel Eyre by Sir William Berkeley in 1662.The oldest section....was built prior to 1750 by Littleton Eyre, and the larger gambrel roofed part was added by John Eyre in 1804."
In two rooms "hangs a portrait of Severn Eyre, member of the Virginia House of Burgesses who inhereited the property in 1766.There is also..an oritinal Sully of John Eyre, owner of the property for approximately 70 years."
There is a detailed writeup of the house and other dependencies; there is also a graveyard.
"Today, Eyre Hall is owned by Mr. Furlong Baldwin and his sister, Mrs. David W. K. Peacock, Jr., direct descendants of the original owners."(This was in 1974.)
