Eyre One Name Study - Request/Offer of Help
Hi,
Please can any EYRE researchers help in obtaining accurate info on the location of Eyre's in the UK Census's.
As part of the EYRE one name study (GOONS member 4353) and maintainer of the Eyre Family History Site (formally Dan's site) I'm currently trying to update the Yorkshire and Derbyshire branches with info gained from all of the census's (censi????), working back from 1901 and using childrens ages etc to obtain clues as to where each family is likely to be in the previous census.
I am starting with the Yorkshire 1901 census and have managed to extract location info on some 700 Yorkshire Eyres from the 1901 census website. Some of these have been relatively easy to find in the census due to their location being given down to a fairly small area, but some individuals are listed as living in larger areas such as Leeds Rotherham etc which doesn't help a great deal.
If you have information on the location of an Eyre in any census (County or Year), or if you have an index for a census please could you provide details as to where they are such as RG13/4329 page 8.
The Eyre website has recently been updated with improved navigation, a new section allowing researchers to post their brickwalls for other researchers to offer help and a new grave search feature.
Due to this feature being new it is currently restricted to a few gravestones in the Castleton area of Derbyshire, but it will hopefully give an idea of how such a feature may be of use to those researching from farther afield.
If anyone has any EYRE gravestone pictures they would like to contribute to this project please get in touch before sending any as I already have quite a few awaiting processing.
If anyone has an Eyre research question for either Yorkshire or Derbyshire that is likely to answered through finding a census entry please let me know and I will try to sort it out and let you know ASAP instead of when there is enough new data to warrant uploading a new set of web pages.
If anyone has research that isn't included on the site and would like to contribute their branch/tree please contact me (details via contributors page of the site).
As the sites location hasn't been mentioned online for quite a while it can be found at

Regards
Rob Eyre
