Dear Garth, Thankyou for your response. It is quite possible our Eyre's were connected as I have been going through a book which was sent to me by another Piffard/Eyre descendant (in the US)which gives in depth detail of the Eyre lineage. Do any of these Eyre's (Derbyshire area) ring a bell? Lucy Eyre - dau of Edward Eyre of Holme Hall, Derbyshire - married Humphrey Stafford of Eyam, Derbyshire (HS died before 1556) Edward Eyre - son of Roger Eyre of Holme Hall, Derbyshire - b. 1486c d July 3 1558 - married Elizabeth daughter of Ralph Reresby Roger Eyre - son of Thomas Eyre of Dunston, Derbyshire - married Elizabeth daughter of Robert Barley of Barley, Derbyshire Thomas Eyre - son of Roger Eyre of Holme Hall, Derby - Married Margaret daughter of Alvery Beswick of Bulcotts, Nottinghamshire Roger Eyre - son of Robert Eyre of Padley, Hathersage,Derby - was living in 1481 - married Elizabeth daughter of Robert Whittington of Whittington, Derbyshire Robert Eyre - son of Nicholas Eyre of Hope, Derbyshire - died March 21 1459 (Hathersage) - married Joan daughter and heir of Robert de Padley who d. March 9 1463 Nicholas Eyre - married daughter and heir of Edward Barlow - Nicholas was of Thornhill in Hope, Derbyshire (Sir) Nicholas was lord of Highlow. His son was Sir Robert (he was knighted by Henry V for his fighting at Agincourt. Any of these familiar? This book also makes mention that the Eyres of Derbyshire from which we are descended are also descendants of William le Eyr (d. 1250) hereditary forester of the Peak area of Derbyshire. The first Eyre I mention above - Lucy - married Humphrey Stafford, their descendants were daughter Catherine married John Morewood who had Grace Moorewood who had Jonathan Pickford who had John Pickford who had Grace Pickford who had Priscilla Catlow who married another EYRE (Joseph) and produced my ancestor Sarah Eyre. So, as you can see Sarah's mothers ancestry goes back to the Derbyshire Eyres but her father's side has only been traced as far back as her grandfather Joseph. The author of my book has spent considerable time trying to trace Joseph's lineage with no luck to date. Hope you find this interesting. Regards Sandra Notify Administrator about this message?
