Thanks for the post Diane, The 1850 census in Logan Twp., Auglaize Co., Ohio it show Mary was born in Virginia and George born in Penn.
John Whetstone son of Simon married Catharine Reynolds August 8,1857 in Auglaize County, Ohio, an interesting thing is on the 1850 census her age was listed as 25 and she was born Oct. 10, 1819 which made her abt 31. In a letter dated July 10, 1853 John writes to his Father-in-law in which he has a PS that says "Father I want you to send me Catherines right age in in your next letter please"
After John died in 1857 Catherine married James McFarland. I don't know when Catherine died but the Obit. of her brother Edward dated 11/1/1905 says that he out lived all of his brothers and sisters so she must of died between 1896 and 1905.
I will check on ancestry.com for Nancy Hire
Thanks Frank
