Gee, Guess my special stick really stirred things up. Good! I can see that my cousins Eugenia and Betty have done their research and know our lines. Just like Exums to stick together. It's also comforting to know that there are other folks that offer support as well. Ms Rabinowitz, since this is America and all are entitled to their own opinion, you can keep yours. Oh I'll still defend your right to have an opinion as I have for 30 years in the Army, but I don't believe your theory about our (Eugenia, Betty, mine & Penny's)branch of the family. Never said you were all wrong, heck I agree with a lot of what you're saying. What we don't agree with is the fact that you are trying to apply this to all of us and that is incorrect. It is also untrue for the Black Exums. Those folks are just what I said in my original message: descendants of slaves who took their former master's name, or the name of someone that lived nearby. That is a fact and a matter of historical record. And while I'm glad that you've researched Bettis and Drew it has nothing to do with Exum. Again your opinion. Show me historical fact that I am a black person. That would be a real neat trick. Then maybe I could sue the government for some of the former slave money. Wonder how that would settle with my G-G-Great grandfather John Kinchen Exum killed in action fighting for the Confederacy at the Battle of the Wilderness. Betty, do you think we could be part jewish too? Southern Baptist, jewish, hmmm. I think there's something to this. I guess since there was a Benjamin (that's a common jewish given name) Exum that would make us part jewish. Maybe we're related to this Ms Rabinowitz. Wouldn't that be nice? I send my best regards to all. Betty, please call me when you get in town next week. I hope to get together with Eugenia very soon as well. I'll be in West Palm for the next week. I send my best to all. Keep digging in the past. Bud Exum-Defender of the Truth and Exum Name(also Cousins Betty and Eugenia)
