Edward Exline 1890's WV

I have located a military marker that has lain in a back yard for more than fifty years. It has never been set and nobody knows the person listed or the location of his remains. The marker is about four feet high, an old style military marker, white. It reads Edward Exline Co. M 2 W.VA. INF SP. AM. War

The Spanish American War refered to occured in the mid 1890's. No other information is contained on the stone. The stone is located in Halo, in a private yard about five miles outside Cowen, on the Erbacon Road (Webster Co WV). The property is located near the rail-road and it is possible that the stone was unloaded here by mistake, or none of the family remained to claim the stone when it was delivered. It is also possible that the person named at one time owned the property and his remains are buried somewhere on the farm. Any help would be appreciated. Please email me, patchez4@hotmail.com
