Hi there,
I have James EXLEY from Soothill, WRY who married Harriet HARPIN 30/3/1815 in Dewsbury.
Their children were Harpin, Harriet, Mary b.1817? Dewsbury, Edward b.6/5/1820 Dewsbury,
Joseph b.1821 Dewsbury, Luke b.14/7/1822 Dewsbury, James b.9/9/1826 Dewsbury, Daniel
b.20/3/1831 Dewsbury, Emma b.22/6/1834 and Emma b.26/12/1838.
Mary EXLEY married Abraham SCOTT b.27/2/1816 also from Dewsbury, in Dewsbury on
7/9/1835. Their children were Nathaniel, Anice, James, Eli (who married Martha ELLIS
b.23/12/1838 in Dewsbury on 3/7/1858 in Dewsbury and both emmigrated to New Zealand), Sarah
Ann and Luke.
As you can see there is a connection to the ELLIS family.
Abraham ELLIS b. 1743? married Mildred SMITH b.1753? on 23/9/1778. Children were
Abraham, Amelia, Hannah, Jenny, Joshua, Pally, Samuel, William and Elizabeth b.18/8/1782.
William ELLIS married Elizabeth COPLEY on 27/5/1816 in Mirfield. There children were James b.
in Dewsbury, Ann, Elizabeth, Mary, Samuel and Abraham.
James ELLIS married Elizabeth GUMMERSAILLE b.14/8/1817 and their children were William,
Martha (who married Eli SCOTT) and Banjamin b.1845 in Dewsbury.
With both names in common I suspect that we are distantly related. Please let me know if this has
