In the Colonial Records of North Carolina, one can find the following:

The apostrophe used above indicates that a lower case letter appeared above the writing line and usually attached. The names of most of the men listed above can be found as "eminent men" in a book published in 1825 about one particular county in the "Border's Region".
The marriage records of the "Borders Region" of Scotland yielded a Richard Ewing who married Mergeret (sp. that way) Turnbull, and subsequent christening records for Marione, James and Issobell.
Additional christening records for Richard Ewing and Bessie Jurdain/Jordan yielded Andrew (Sept. 5, 1708), Richard (Feb. 4, 1711), Jennot (July 26, 1713), and James (April 26, 1716).
Much has been written about immigration from Ulster, Ireland. However, an "inquisition" was initiate in 1718 in the "Borders Region" to bring to trial those involved in the latest rebellion against His Majesty, which apparently led to many families fleeing to Ireland, which might help to explain the scarcity of records, since many of these apparently attempted to get to America as soon as possible. So, bridging the time gap seems to be a problem of a decade or two, except for those that arrived in Chester County, PA in the mid 1720's.
Anyone have any records on Richard Ewins after 1693 around the North Carolina area, or do you think he migrated north into Virginia or even Pennsylvania ?
