I don't know if this bit of info will help any, but my Ewert ancestors came from Estonia, fleeing the Russian Revolution and coming to Canada.
As for the meaning of Ewert, that is something I have looked into myself and have not been able to find. I sincerely hope that this information helps, but there is the distinct possiblilty that our Ewert lines are not the same.
