Searching for ancestry and descendants of Rice G. HARLOW and Evelina J. EWERS who were married in Nelson Co., VA, 24 July 1830. They moved to Missouri about 1832 and were in Saline County in 1840. By 1850, they were "gone" and their children scattered between three different foster households in Saline and Pettis Counties, MO.Their children, as near as I can ascertain, were:
1. Martha Jane HARLOW [1832-1878] my great-great-grandmother.She married 9 June 1853 in Saline Co., MO, to Matthew Coleman BRIDGWATER [7 June 1828-3 November 1882] He was a Confederate soldier, private in Co. I, Wood's Regiment, Missouri Cavalry. Matthew and Martha are buried in Heath's Creek Cem., Saline Co., MO.
2. Elizabeth D. HARLOW, b. about 1838, married 21 June 1855 in Pettis Co., MO, to Charles Woodson BRIDGEWATER [1820-1899].Matthew and Charles Bridgwater / Bridgewater were brothers, both born in Nelson Co., Virginia, sons of Nathaniel BRIDGWATER and Rebecca Janetta CLARKE.
3. John N. HARLOW, b. about 1839, lived in Saline Co., MO.
4. Asa F. HARLOW, b. about 1842, married 12 May 1864 in Cooper Co., MO, to Rebecca M. YOUNGER, daughter of Charles and Jane YOUNGER
5. Stephen HARLOW, b. about 1844, removed to Collin Co., TX, and served in the Confederacy as a private in Co. I, Martin's Regt., Texas Cavalry.
