The husband of my late father's sister was Thomas Ewart, born in Glasgow in 1921. His parents, Thomas Ewart and Louisa Walker, were married in Old Monkland West in 1916. From what I have been able to find out, he had two brothers. Robert and Sam, and two sisters, Ann and Betty. I understand from my uncle that his brother Robert had his name inscribed on the memorial to the Cockleshell Heroes.
There may be no connection at all with the family you are looking into, but there were too many similarities for me not to post this message. I should add that my uncle, Thomas Ewart, had no children.
If any of this seems promising, please let me know.
