Marian - came across this whilst googling around Ensign Ewart. Although your ancestor was born and lived in roughly the right area, I'm afraid that, as W.A. Thorburn related to this writer;

...Ewart had no children. Further, his regiment was in southern England from 1803 through 1806.
Perhaps she was related to Ewart in another way? Have you tried the Scotland's People website?
