Hello Revae,

I recently started looking into my family history. Here is what I have put together by looking at the census records.

Samuel Theodore Ewart appears to sometimes be Theodore Samuel Ewart, depending on the census.

Samuel Theodore Ewart was born Jul 17, 1846 in Huntington County, Indiana to Mahlon D. Ewart and Thalia Theodotia Sering. Samuel's siblings include:

Hannah E. Ewart, born Aug 1, 1844, in Indiana (I assume Huntington County), died Aug 26, 1899 in Warren, Huntington County, Indiana

David Oliver Ewart, born Oct 1851, in Indana. David is sometimes known as Oliver, once again depending on the census. (David is my great-great grandfather)

Silas H. Ewart, born about 1856 and buried Good Cemetery in Huntington, Indiana.

Samuel did marry Caroline First and they had two children that I have found.

James W. Ewart, born Sep 17, 1870 in Huntington County, Indiana, died Nov 11, 1905 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Alpha Mahlon Ewart, born Sep 3, 1873 in Jefferson, Huntington County, Indiana, died Jul 4, 1962 in Okalahoma City, Oklahoma. Alpha is buried in Warren, Huntington County, Indiana. Alpha is listed as Mahlon in the 1880 census.

Based upon the census records and what I found from the Good Cemetery online records (http://www.interment.net/data/us/in/huntington/good/index.htm), I have put together the following story.

Between 1870 and 1880, both Samuel and David were married and widowed. Both returned to live with their parents in the 1880 census. Samuel returned with James and little Mahlon. David, listed and Oliver, returned with his two kids, Vernie and Elaska, who was listed as Alaska.

I hope this helps and I have a question for you. Are you related to Samuel?

Have fun in your geneology quest,

Tim Ewart
