Interesting comment. My husband's great grandfather (in Canada) wore a Stewart tartan also. Some of his family always said they thought it was more for show and the organizations he belonged to than that he descended from a House of Stewart because he didn't have or know one of his own. The only one I've traced had no surviving male heirs so it wasn't THAT one!!
