In Edinburg there is a famous landmark known as the Ensign Ewart Pub. It honours a man who captured the eagle (battle standard) of a French regiment during the Battle of Waterloo. He was immediately given a field promotion from a sergent to an ensign. Does anyone have any connections with this man, or is able to provide more information?
