You maybe right but I have always heard was from the lowlands Ewart,Northumberland or some branch of the Stewarts
My grandfather pernouned it Hugh-ert.I just tell people it rhymes with Stewart sounds better than E-wart.I think maybe they were Scots-Irish.Always seemed they were connected to Ireland in behavoir and traditions but anti-Catholic.Things we do and eat points that way.More outdoor type as in early settlers not yuppie-hippee type.I remember my grandfather talking about the British like they were still our enemies.Don't lie and cheat or talk about money share help others but quietly because we should be humble and to humble a man is not for us to do and humbled we be before god.We do things a little bit on the rough side.It is not an issue but we are cheap very cheap. These are examples of things past down that might help you in your family. It maybe entirely different in your family.Nobody would ever suspect us as ever having money not that we do.We tend to be on the rough side of doing things. We are country folks which most of your Scots-Irish are.We like the hills or not being on top of each other.I own a half mile on each side of me not that I need it because no one is that close anyway. To know yourself and your family can help you determined your antestry.Like Potatoes, peas (or greenbeans) in milk and butter.New potatoes of course and fresh from the garden.Sorry I got carried away but if we were from royality we sure did forget what it must have been like.
