My father- John Ewart- often told me that many many years ago- Davaar Island-which stands just off the Mull of Kintyre in the south west of Scotland- opposite N.Ireland was once owned by Ewarts. This island is little more than a barren rock with a lighthouse on it now-however- there is something of interest on the island which attracts many visitors (who can walk to the island by means of a cuaseway at low tide from Campbeltown). At one time a painter, whom I dont know of, but will be easily found out, painted within one of the many caves on the island- a magnificent very large painting of the cruxifiction. This caves draws many visitors to the small island- I hope that this may be of some assistance- whether they are one and the same `Ewarts Island` I dont know.
