Joseph EWAN b. ca 1842; lived near Hayden, Jennings Co., Indiana on 1 August 1904 when he gave deposition for a Civil War Widow's Pension claim for soldier, LEVI REEVES BANFILL of Jennings Co., Indiana; serv. Co G., 27th ILL Vol. Inf; Lived 1870-1880 near Hardensburg, Indiana; by 1900 lived with wife and family near Douglass, Butler Co., Kansas.

In deposition, Joseph EWAN stated "we were boys together raised up and lived in same neighborhood...I am about 3rd cousin to above
named soldier." signed "Joseph Ewan"
