How bout this for "evidence" Martin, well at least a clue....

First the history on Caleb EVERTS is from the "History of Oakland County Michigan, page 777 - here's the link with the full bio:

Now, looking at the 1850 Census of Caleb EVERTS in Rose Twp., Oakland Co. found here:

...guess what name we find right next door? In the following household is a "stray", one Julia A. AUSTIN, b.c 1834, in NY, USA

Now, George C's son's marriage registration notes his mother's name was Nancy AUSTIN (she b.c. 1823). So maybe this is a 'clue' - hope it helps, leads somewhere.
