Hi,
The Michigan death certificate for George C Everts is now online at the Seeking Michigan website. It lists his father as "Eriah Everts" and his mother as "do not know." I bet that the name should be "Uriah." However, I have not been able to find a likely candidate for the father of George C. There is a "Caleb Uriah Everts," which is interesting because much is known about another Caleb Everts, the one born 15 July 1812, in Pawlet, VT. According to the history of this Caleb that is reported on Rootsweb, he was the eldest of 7 siblings. His father died when he was 15 and his mother died when he was 21. The 6 siblings of this Caleb appear to be poorly known. The fact thatGeorge C Everts and Caleb Everts both ended up in Michigan suggests the possibility that George is one of the siblings of Caleb. Of course, this is only a hypothesis, and it needs evidence.
The hypothesis, if true, implies that Caleb is actually Caleb Uriah Everts (since George's death certificate gives his father as "Eriah"). There is another Caleb Uriah Everts, who resided in Nebraska, but it seems that his father and grandfather were both named Adam, and they seem to have resided in PA, not NY. In short, there is no obvious connection between this Caleb Uriah Everts and the Caleb Everts born 1812 in VT.
All of which means, I am sorry to say, that there is no good candidate for a father for George C. Everts.
I am descended from George C. Everts by way of his last child, Francis Melvin Everts.
Best regards to everyone,
Martin Peters
