William Everton, Charlestown, MA (1625-1688)

Does anyone know of a major source for the descendants of William Everton of Charlestown, MA? My ancestor, Samuel Additon (also spelled Atherton/Arddaton/Aderton) may be the same person as Samuel Everton, son of Joseph Everton and Katherine Tuck. I need further information to prove or disprove that Samuel Everton and Samuel Additon are one and the same man.

FIRST GENERATION
1. William Everton was born about 1625. According to Savage's Dictionary, he lived in Manchester, MA in 1658 and in Charlestown, MA in 1674. He died in Oct 1688. He was married to Sarah. Sarah was born about 1625/26. She married second Thomas Bligh on Sep 10, 1691 in Charlestown, Suffolk, MA. William Everton and Sarah had the following children:

2       i.       Sarah Everton was christened on Jul 2 1677 in Charlestown, Suffolk, MA.
Question: Could she be the Sarah Everton who married Henry Barker on Mar 31, 1699 in Charlestown, Suffolk, MA?

9       i.       Elizabeth Everton was christened on Sep 3 1688. Questions: Could she be the Elizabeth Everton who married William Goddard on Sept. 21, 1709 in Boston, Suffolk, MA? Could she be the Elizabeth Everton who married John Lillow on Nov. 23, 1710 in Boston, Suffolk, MA?
10       ii.       Ruth Everton was christened on Sep 27 1691.

4. Captain John Everton was christened on Jul 2 1677 in Charlestown, Suffolk, MA. He was married Dec 15 1686 in Charlestown, MA to Sarah Taylor (daughter of Richard Taylor of Yarmouth and Ruth Whelden). Sarah Taylor was born in 1662 in Yarmouth, Barnstable, MA. She died on Jul 31 1695. Captain John Everton and Sarah Taylor had the following children:

       +11       i.       Anne Everton.

5. Fownell Everton was born on Mar 20 1665/66. He was christened on Jul 2 1677 in Charlestown, Suffolk, MA. He was also known as Fownell Emerton. He was a mariner. He was married to Mary Sprague (daughter of Phineas Sprague and Mary Carrington). Fownell Everton and Mary Sprague had the following children:

12       i.       Mary Everton was born on Oct 2 1687.
       +13       ii.       Joanna Everton.

6. Captain Samuel Everton was christened on Jul 2 1677 in Charlestown, Suffolk, MA. He died before 1708. He was married to Joanna Lynd (daughter of Col. Joseph Lynd and Sarah Davison). Captain Samuel Everton and Joanna Lynd had the following children:

14       i.       Joanna Everton. Question: Could she be the Joana Everton who married Thomas Jenner on July 03, 1718 in Charlestown, Suffolk, MA? Could she be the Joanna Everton who married Samuel Stroud on May 12, 1720 in Boston, Suffolk, MA?

7. Joseph Everton was christened on Jul 2 1677in Charlestown, Suffolk, MA. He was married to Katherine Tuck (daughter of Thomas Tuck) on Sep 23 1697 in Charlestown, Suffolk, MA. Katherine Tuck was christened on Sep 18 1677 in Charlestown, Suffolk, MA. Joseph Everton and Katherine Tuck had the following children:

15       i.       Catherine Everton. Question: Could she be the Katherine Everton who married John Herriss on Jan 06, 1719 in Boston? Could she be the Katherine Everton who married
Thomas Thatcher in Boston on Aug 21, 1721?
       16       ii.       Joseph Everton.
+17       iii.       Samuel Everton AKA as Samuel Additon?

THIRD GENERATION
11. Anne Everton was born on Oct 16 1689 in Charlestown, Suffolk, MA.She was married to Benjamin Mulberry (son of John Mulberry and Abigail) on Mar 11 1713 in Boston, Suffolk, MA.

13. Joanna Everton was born on Jan 3 1689/90 in Charlestown, Suffolk, MA. She died before 1718.
She was married to Nicholas Humes in 1714 in Boston, Suffolk, MA.

17. Samuel Additon may have been born on Mar 11 1705 in Boston, Suffolk, MA. Samuel was also known as Samuel Adderton and Samuel Arddaton. Samuel Additon is the earliest known ancestor of the Additon family. Although his parentage is uncertain, there are a few clues to his identity. The "History of Leeds, Maine" says of the Additons, "Among the early familes of Duxbury, Mass., was that of Arddaton (now Additon), which probably came from England prior to 1640. All through the residence in Duxbury the original spelling of the name continues, as Thomas of the Revolution (father of the Thomas born March 2, 1763, who became an early settler of Leeds) used this orthography." (Stinchfield 1843, 172)

Earlier genealogists claimed he married Mary Teague on April 23, 1723 in Pembroke, Plymouth, MA or Boston, Suffolk, MA. A review of the records show that the marriage intention gives the name of "Samuel Atherton" while the marriage record gives the name "Samuel Everton." Samuel Everton was married by Dr. Cotton Mather to Mary Teague on Apr 17, 1723 in Boston, Suffolk, MA. (Mary Teague was also known as Mary Tague.) There can only be two conclusions: Either Samuel Additon was confused with Samuel Everton and was never married to Mary Teague, or Samuel Additon and Samuel Everton are the same man.

Samuel Additon and supposedly Mary Teague had the following children:

18       i.       Mary Additon was born on Mar 26 1724 in Hingham, Plymouth, MA.
       +19       ii.       Samuel Additon.
20       iii.       Jane Additon was born on Jan 1 1727/28 in Hingham, Plymouth, MA.               21       iv.       Submit Additon (#1) was born on Dec 14 1729 in Hingham, Plymouth, MA. She died on Apr 30 1730.
       +22       v.       Submit Additon (#2).
23       vi.       John Additon was born on Jun 14 1734 in Hingham, Plymouth, MA. He died on Aug 1 1734 in Pembroke, Plymouth, MA.
24       vii.       Rachel Additon was born on Jun 14 1734 in Hingham, Plymouth, MA.
+25       viii.       Thomas Additon/Arddaton. Fought in the American Revolution.
