Maybe this will help.....The earliest proven ancestor of John Everett, the subject of the book "Everett/Everitt Family - A Genealogical History" by Alvaretta Kenan Register, Certified Genealogist and edited by David M Foley, Ph.D., Augusta College, Augusta, Georgia 30910 which was published in 1987, was that of his grandfather, Nathaniel Everett, born 1678. This date was proven 15 February 1738 when Mr. Stevens Lee moved that Nathaniel Everet, Sr., be exempt from paying levys and other public services. This is usually done at 50 years of age. We do not know where he was born, but have proof that he moved to Morratock in 1683. Morratock was in Chowan Precinct (later County), North Carolina. Tyrrell County, North Carolina, was created 1729 out of Chowan, Bertie, Currituck and Pasquotank Counties, with Columbia as the county seat. Nathaniel Everett's land fell into the new Tyrrell County.
