ALL: I have found an Episcopla prayer book. From a flea market probably 10 years ago.

Prayer book published by Henry Anners of Philadelphia, Penn. in 1846.

Inside is a notation: " Lucy E. Everett 1848 a father's present "

Also pasted on inside cover is faded newspaper item " For The Southern Churchman. Died, at Fort Washington, Maryland. on the 19th. instant; the 40th. year of her age; Mrs. Elizabeth Marie; consort of Lieut. T. S. Everett, U. S. A. "

Anyone know of these people?

Fort Washington is an old stone fort near Washington, DC. Built in 1809 in defense of the capitol. Is now a national park service hands.

Fort destroyed in 1814, which was war of 1812 against the British. In october 1824 fort completed again. Remodling in 1840s. The first cannons placed there in 1846. Occupied by the First, Third, and Fourth US Artillery.

Would guess that this T. S. Everett was a part of one of the artillery units.

Have some photos of the prayer book. The Book Of Common Prayer. Can send photos by e-mail for anyone wishing to see it.

Steve Russell in Iowa
