James, Sumter, & Daniel Everage
A question about the children of James H. and Margaret Elizabeth [Clancy] Everage, a sister of Alfred Joseph Clancy and an aunt of Mary Elizabeth Clancy who married Samuel R. Rutherford.
Margaret Elizabeth Clancy (abt. 1833-aft. 1880) was first married to John Wesley Capps, who died in the Confederate service in 1862.In 1866, in Lowndes County, Alabama, she married James H. Everage (abt. 1807-bef. 1880), a brother of my g-g-grandfather Jonathan Andrew Everage. He was considerably older than she, and I suppose that one of her main reasons for marrying him was that she needed somehow to provide for her children by her first husband.James Everage’s children by his first wife were already grown. He and Margaret Elizabeth apparently had three children of their own: James, Sumter, and Daniel. I have tried in vain to discover what became of these children, searching the Internet, using various spellings of their names and surname.
Can anybody tell me what became of James, Sumter, and Daniel?
Rex Everage
