“Discovering Your Ancestors Online” August 6, 2011, Akron Ohio

The Special Collections Division of the Akron-Summit County Public Library and the Summit County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society are pleased to present the free day-long program “Discovering Your Ancestors Online” on Saturday, August 6, 2011 from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm in the Main Library Auditorium at 60 South High Street, Akron, Ohio.

The program will feature presentations by: Laura Prescott, a nationally known researcher, writer, and speaker who serves as president of the Association of Professional Genealogists and as a consultant for; Judith Porter, Director of the Family History Center in Tallmadge, Ohio; and Edward Loera, a former librarian and current trainer with ProQuest.

9:45 – 10:45 Genealogy Research Online: Sites and Strategies That May Surprise You (Laura Prescott)
10:45 – 11:00 Break
11:00 – 12:00 Find Your Family on (Laura Prescott)
12:00-1:15 Lunch on your own
1:15 – 2:15 Ancestry Library Edition (Edward Loera)
2:15 – 2:30 Break
2:30 – 3:30 HeritageQuest Online (Edward Loera)       
3:30 – 4:30 Family Search: The Largest Source of Free Genealogy (Judith Porter)
