This is only intended as an outline of some of the many things that will be going on at Paintsville Ramada in October. A lot of things have been crowded together....even a "Breaking News" before we could get it sent to you. It gets more exciting every hour.....

There will be better printed programs later, also listings and schedules of workshops, Historical Societies, D.A.R. ; V.A. and other groups...

~Friday, October 7, 2005~

12 Noon - Vendors begin to set up their tables so you will have lots of time to look and
do some early shopping.

7 to 8 pm is Early Registration...1st floor, Gazebo Area. Snacks will be provided

8 to 9 pm “Kentucky Haunted Houses” will be presented by Lynwood Montell, Professor of Folk Studies - Western Kentucky University

BREAKING NEWS: {Mr.Montell just called to say as an extra) he would like to bring us another message earlier than 8-9 pm as scheduled. He would like to tell us about "Stories as General Bonding Agents"....we will work him in someplace!!! arrive as early as possible. Everyone is so excited even the speakers are asking to give us more...IT IS GOING TO BE GREAT.}

Stay up as long as you like...but tomorrow is a busy day.

8:30 am-“OPENING CEREMONY” - Mary Pack Richmond and Mary Ann Merritt

9 am - Mary Rose Martin, representing the Genealogy Department of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints “Available Records and Research through the Mormon Church”

10 am - “Land Patents and Land Grants” - Sandy Atkinson, Representing the office of Kentucky’s Secretary of State, Trey Grayson

(If each person would enclose two names (she told me one, but we will go for two) with their paid early registration form, Ms. Atkinson may have some time before October to do some advance searching of your early family) Who Knows???

12 Noon to 1 pm - LUNCH - on your own... live music will be provided at the Gazebo by: “Music From The Heart”

1 pm - 2 pm - “Court House Records you probably do not know even exist” by: Sallee Ann Holbrook, Johnson County Court Clerk -and “Finding Myself” - by: Jan Horn - Most of us know her as “Ms. Johnson County History”

2 pm - “Jessie James” - Jim Prichard, Research Room Supervisor, Kentucky Department of Library and Archives

3 pm - Johnson County’s very own - Ronnie Blair-”Tice Harmon”

4 pm “Melungeons” Nancy Morrison-We have waited 3 years for this presentation.

5:30 pm Buffet Dinner in Argond Room with Dinner Speaker: Ernest Tucker, Professor of History, Ashland Community College: “Old-Time Marryin’ and Motherin’ “

7 pm till ?????- BACK TO THE GAZEBO AREA-Jim Gambill will do the “CHARITY AUCTION“ BID-BID-BID “You have no friend at an auction, so bid!!!

8:30 Breakfast followed by Tour of Old Town Cemetery (weather permitting)
