CROATIAN GENEALOGY SEMINAR AT GERMAN-MASONTOWN LIBRARY
The Staff and Board of Trustees of the German-Masontown Public Library, Masontown, Pennsylvania, are pleased to announce that a Croatian Genealogy Seminar will be held at their library on Saturday, May 21, 2005, from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
The Seminar will be conducted by Robert Jerin, Director of the Croatian Heritage Museum and Library in Cleveland, Ohio, and Croatian genealogy researcher.
As Mr. Jerin stated about his seminar, "I have had Croatians of all 'ethnic groups' attend my seminar, as most Serbs who came to the US, prior to World War II, came from Croatia, as did many people of Slovak, Hungarian and German descent."
Mr. Jerin will present such topics as the history and origin of Croatia and Croatians; how our ancestors lived in the "Old Country"; Croatian immigration to the United States and the journey to America; how to get started with your family tree; the do's and do not's of genealogy; how
to translate Croatian records; how to locate records such as birth records, marriage records, death records, and census records in the United States and Croatia; the meaning and categories of surnames; And figuring out family relationships.
Also demonstrated in the seminar will be the value of the internet in doing family research online. Mr. Jerin's seminar will be done with a Power Point Presentation.
The Seminar will cost $35 per person, which includes lunch and Mr. Jerin's handbook, "Searching for Your Croatian Roots", ordinarily sold for $26 per book. Robert Jerin also offers research assistance to seminar participates as often as they need it in their future research.
Since seating is limited, it is recommended that you register as early as possible for this Saturday, May 21 Seminar.
