Did your Revolutionary War ancestor serve at Forts Pitt, Crawford, McIntosh, or Henry? If so, then he may have helped build or brought supplies to Fort Laurens which was built in Nov. 1778 near what is now Bolivar in northeastern Ohio. Fort Laurens was the only Revolutionary War fort in what is now the state of Ohio. Seiges by the British and the Native Americans reduced the fort's supplies drastically over that winter. At one point, the Colonial soldiers boiled their moccasins to make a broth. The food is much better these days!
See www.friendsoffortlaurens.org for information on the dinner (16 Oct 2004) and for a list of the known soldiers who served there.
