I am also researching the Evely family of Northlew.
I sometime ago browsed a family collection of postcards and remember one postmarked Ontario, Canada in the late 1800's to I think dear cousin Lizzie and signed by someone Evely the first name was not readable.
I will try to visit and have another look at the collection to see what else I can find.

Also I have traced a James and Elizabeth Evely through the census and 1841 finds them at Holloway, Northlew, Devon. with offsprings John, Mary,James and Elizabeth.
By 1851 the family is found at Crowden Mill, Northlew, Devon.
By the 1861 census the family seem to have disappeared.
