I suspect this James M. Eveleth may be the James. M. Eveleth who was born ca. 1831/2 Ohio, eldest son of the second marriage of Isaac Eveleth (to wife Mary). James M. was listed in his father's home in 1850, occupation blacksmith, but was gone by 1860. Isaac Eveleth was born in Newport, RI 25 Aug. 1779. First wife Alma (Taggart) d. 22 Aug. 1827. Isaac’s second wife was Mary (b. PA ca. 1803). Isaac is found on the 1850 Census in Cincinnati, Ohio, occupation bookkeeper. He died in Cincinnati 22 Sep. 1857. Widow Mary Eveleth was living there in 1860. Unfortunately, I don't have any information on James M's marriage.
