I need to discover who the Jacob W. Evans was that my great grandmother's, Lucinda Whitman-Martin, sister was married to when Lucinda Martin died in 1905. I don't know the name of Lucinda's sister - I only know her maiden name was Whitman, and that she was probably born in the 1830s or 1840s in Pennsylvania. My great grandmother, Lucinda, froze to death in a blizzard. Her obit states she died while attempting to visit her sister, Mrs. Jacob W. Evans, who lived near Mears, Golden Twp., in Oceana County, Michigan at the time. Her sister was not expecting Lucinda to visit, so Lucinda's frozen body wasn't discovered for some time. There was a Jacob W. Evans who lived in Golden Twp., Oceana Co., MI at the time Lucinda died, but I can't find any evidence of him ever being married. I also just discovered this Jacob W. Evans died in 1905 himself - he was deaf and was killed by a train in Michigan (Oceana County?). Any information would be most helpful at this point.
