Hi Carla!
I'm searching for information regarding the parents of Joseph William Evans b. 1821 Lawrence Co MS.He listed his dad being from GA and his mother from SC.I noticed several names that seems to show up generation after generation...John, James, Joseph, William, etc...
We have a couple of theories regarding Joseph's family. One is where a Joseph Evans was found on the 1828 (?) Lawrence Co tax rolls and the 1830 Lawrence Co census. He seems to disappear soon after the census.
My Joseph (b. 1821) and his wife, Catherine Ross, named thier first child Elizabeth F.Since Catherine's mother's name was Frances, I'm thinking that the "F" was for Frances and that Elizabeth was probably named after both of her grandmothers...which would lead us to the conclusion that Joseph's mother's name was Elizabeth.Of course this is only a theory and so far I have found nothing definitive to back it up.
I was wondering if any of this might fall into place with any of your Evans research.Any help you might be able to offer would be greatly appreciated and I'm more than happy to share anything I have found on the family starting with Joseph b. 1821.
Thanks for your help!!
Hope Evans
