Rita;
I am extremely interested in the research that you posted on USGenWeb regarding the descendants of George Evans.My gggg-grandfather was John L. Evans who was born between 1775-1780.He married Lavina Reeves in Jasper County, Georgia in 1811.They migrated westward through Fayette County, Georgia to Russell County, Alabama and ended up in Tallapoosa County, Alabama in the 1840s.John died before 1840 before they reached Alabama, but Lavina and her children continued to Alabama.
You mentioned that George had at least three sons - William, Walter, and John.All of those names continue through my family.Two of John L. Evans' sons were Walter R. Evans (born 1819 in GA) and William P. Evans (born 1836 in Alabama).Walter R. Evans (my ggg-grandfather) named his first two sons Walter R. Evans and John L. Evans.
There is also a Jeremiah Evans (born 1789 in Georgia) who migrated to Tallapoosa County about the same time.I believe John and Jeremiah were brothers based a a series of land and cemetery records.Jeremiah named his
sons Jeremiah and George.
If you have any details on George Evans and his descendants that you could share, I would greatly appreciate it.
o 28 January 1812 – JOHN McLEAN bought land from DAVID EVANS of Randolph County.Tract located in Baldwin (now Randolph) County, Number 118 on the waters of ____ Creek.Originally granted to LEWIS GLISSTON of Mulkey’s District in Burke County on 7 December 1808.Witnessed by HANNAH EVANS. Recorded in Randolph (now Jasper) County Deed Book 8, Pages 319-320.
I have found a Jasper County land record that mentions Hannah Evans.I will gladly share any information that I have with you as well.
Thanks,
Carl Evans
