I would like to find more about the descendants of Robert Evans of Perquimans County, NC born about 1719-1722, who married a Ms. Jessop. I have it that Benjamin Evans and his wife Rebeccah Willard had a son named Charles Evans who may be the same or an uncle to, the Charles Evans who married circa 1865-1872 Catherine (maiden name unknown) born 1846. Charles Evans may have married a Jordan or Newby. His daughter Lucille Ethel Evans who married Hugh Copeland was born 1872. Charles died before 18 December 1891, when his widow Catherine Evans married Henry Newby, born 18 November 1826, son of Joseph Newby and Rachel Newby (dau. of Gabriel Newby and Rachel Pearson (?) ). We do not know the name of Henry Newby's first wife, but she was probably either an Evans or Jordan - and possibly Charles Evanses' sister. He was supposedly the uncle of Lucille Ethel Evans prior to his marriage to Lucille's mother. Hope you can help me unravel this mystery. All of these folks seem to have been Quakers in the area of Well's Meeting House at Sutton's Creek, in Perquimans County, NC. Thanks, Will Smith Notify Administrator about this message?
