How do you pronounce "Etienne"?
Posted by: Christian D. Etienne Date: August 01, 2001 at 11:56:27

Originally, my family of Etienne's from the north pronounced our name "et-ee-N". My immediate family moved to south Louisiana in the early 70's and my father met a collegue who was fluent in Frence. He informed my dad that the correct pronunciation is "Ate-T-ann". Later, I took French in high school and lerned that the latter is correct. Etienne is French for "Stephen" for those of you who didn't know. It's commonly a first name. Just curious as to how your family pronounces the name.
