Dear Suzanne. we are in some way related

Thank You for the information, but this is nothing new to me. I have detailed records of
my ancestors up to Etienne. I have even visited St-Martial de Manot farm in person and consulted the parish archives. My father was raised in Boucherville, and I have even visited the farm (or rather the lot, as only ruins are left) where Francois Ethier settled. The last farm on this lot was abandoned in the 1930s. It belonged to Adelard Ethier, my grand-father and prior to that to Napoleon Ethier, my great-grandfather The property may have been sold to developers since. My last visit was about 25 years ago.
I even have several census reports on Leonard Ethier.

However the information on Ethier prior to Leonard and Etienne is sketchy. Prior to the XVIth century Ethier was spelled Ythier.
