I am trying to find out the names (family, etc) of Rebecca Gordon who was born about 1802-05. She (and her family) were living in Ohio when Rebecca married Otho Hinton in June of 1822. They had several children including Oscar Fitzallen Hinton. This is a very interesting family and I can send what I have on it to you - pages and pages - Otho was more than just a character!!!!! Otho moved to many plances (Cuba, Los Angeles, Oregon, Hawaii then to Sonoma County, California. He died there in 1865. Rebecca appears to have come to California after his death. Also arriving in California were Oscar, his sister Mary Ellen and Oscar's wife, Fanny, and daughter, Jennie Pickett Hinton.
Their granddaughter, Jennie, married an older man (twice her age), and she wrote a diary in the 1880s in Trinity County, California. This diary has been found and a cousin and I are trying to put her diary and life story into historical perspective.
If you think this is your Rebecca Hinton, I have tons of information to send you - but what about Rebecca? Where was she born? Who were her parents? Siblings? I would love to know if this is the correct Rebecca.
