Jean...Whatever is on the Municipiality of Austin document would be interesting to see. My email address is metherton@ebay.com I don't know if your Daniel and the one I have information are the same, but there is at least a slim possibility that there might be a connection. The reason I believe this are 1. As far as I have found so far, there was only one Daniel Etherton around in England at this time. There is no death registered for him in England, which means he could have left the country. 2. 1835 was a key year for both of them..in my case, it was the year he left the army after 22 years service, and in your case the year a Daniel Etherton applied for land. 3. My Daniel served a few years of his army service in North America (although I don't know exactly where). These are coincidences but put together they sound quite convincing (to me at least). I have a copy of Daniels military service which I would be happy to photocopy and post to you if you would like it. My copy is not so clear so any other copy I make would be no better quality...but it is quite interesting reading all the same. Notify Administrator about this message?
