James,
Your Sarah Rachel Gibbs is actually Sarah Rachel Morris. Her parents are John Quincy Morris and Martha Eveline Gibbs. They are my wife's great grandparents. I have a lot of info on the Etherton's in my family file. I picked up a lot from Jimmy Morris down in Tennesse who is a collateral line from my wife's. I've also been working on this for a number of years. I don't know where exactly "Bud" was from, but I do see James living as a servant in a household in Bledsoe County in 1900. He was 19 at the time. No sign of parents but I wonder if he wasn't somehow connected to the John Etherton family living there in 1880.
