Hi Don-
We have to be cousins, this is my line too!! So far, I haven't had much luck with this branch, but last night found Lydia Botorf on the 1850 census in Madison Co, Indiana, Pipe Creek Twp.! Her parents are listed as Samuel and Mary, from Pa and Oh respectively. There are 5 daughters, Catherine, Lydia, Sarah, Mary, and Lucinda, all born in Ohio, except Lucinda the youngest born in Indiana.
Now, as far as Jake Etchison is concerned, there are so many Etchisons in Madison Co around this time, it is difficult to sort them out. The most promising suspect is a Jacob Etchison, age 17 in the 1850 census, son of Walter and Margaret. This seems a bit younger than I was expecting him to be, so I wonder if Jake isn't a nickname for John or something else?
I would love to compare notes with you on the rest of this line! I am descended from Martha Jane Etchison, through her daughter Zora Mae, my great grandmother.
