He is the James who married Rachel Wright in 1772. He was killed at the battle of Little Mountain (near present Mt. Sterling)on March 22, 1782. I would be interested and greatful for any information you can share. I learn more about Grandpa everyday, I have not found any reference to him being promoted to Col. He is refered to as Capt. on everything I have found so far.
