Isaac Jones ESTES was my g-g-grandfather. I have documented records of my direct descendancy but am still searching on I. J., Lucinda and their children. Isaac Jones Estes and Lucinda D. Ross (b. 22 Apr. 1822, MO Terr.) were married in West Fork, Washington Co., AR on 14 May 1840. They stayed at the home of Isaac's father, Patrick, in West Fork when they first got married, probably due to difficulty in getting their own place, but, specifically to look after the aging Patrick. Lucinda brought a 10-year-old black female with her (name unknown) when she married. Whether as a wedding gift from her parents or a personal favorite of Lucinda's is unknown. Isaac & Lucinda appear on the 1840 West Fork census. Children of the marriage were: 1) Cynthia A. Estes - b. 6 Mar 1841 - West Fork [I have info that Cynthia's middle name was Ann, but this has not been confirmed]; (2) Mary A. Estes - b. 8 Apr 1842 - West Fork; (3) John W. Estes (my g-grandfather) - b. 27 Jun 1843 - West Fork [I have info that his middle name was Wilbur, but this has not been confirmed; our family knew him as John Wesley Estes - John W. never used his middle name on any documents - I have his pension papers from the Civil War]; (4) George W. Estes - b. 7 Feb. 1849 - West Fork, AR. Isaac & Lucinda next appear on the 1850 Lawrence Co., MO census [Cynthia was listed as Cinthi]. (5) Benjamin Franklin Estes - b. 3 Mar 1850 - Lawrence Co., MO; (6) Lucy J. Estes - b. 9 Feb 1852 - Lawrence Co., MO; (7) Daniel F. Estes - b. 29 Nov 1853 - Lawrence Co., MO; (8) Jesse W. Estes - b. 22 Dec. 1855 - Eureka Springs, Carroll Co., AR; (9) William P. Estes - b. Nov 1857 - Eureka Springs, AR; (10) Isaac Patrick Estes - b. 29 Dec 1860 - Carrollton, Carroll Co., AR. Lucinda passed away sometime after 1860. Isaac Jones returned to Lawrence Co., MO and married Rutha J. Hudson on 27 Oct 1863. Rutha had 2 sons by a previous marriage: H. J. Estes - b. 1852 and James Estes - b. 1855. I don't know if Hudson was Rutha's maiden name or married name. Her two sons were evidently given the Estes surname sometime after the marriage. Isaac and Rutha had a daughter, Mattie Elizabeth Estes - b. 1867 in AR. I have just learned that Isaac and Rutha were divorced later on; this is unconfirmed. I don't have any death dates on any of the family. Isaac died sometime between 1882 and 1890. Some info points to 1890 as closest year of his death. I have not found the burial place of any of his family. He was allegedly living in Boone Co. or Carroll Co., AR at the time of his death. I'm still researching, but I hope this helps.
