Esson Family Genealogy Forum

I was wondering if anyone had any information to the origin of the name Esson. I assume all the Esson's are of scottish origin, but before that I can't tell. My great uncle said that it comes from Aeschen (latin? german? gaelic?) But i was looking over some notes from other parts of the family, and noticed that the Norweigian family of Rongvald Eystensson ended up in the Orkney Islands of Northern Scotland. I am comparing Esson with Eystensson, and am thinking there could also be a connection. My branch of Esson's originated in Orkney with Arthur Esson b. abt 1790's thats as far back as I can go. I know that the Eystensson's were there around 900 AD, thats a big time difference, but I can't seem to find any information past Arthur Esson.
If anyone has any info that could help me, please share.
~Stephen
