Dear Lee,
The picture you have is of my great, great, great grandpa J.W. (John Wesley) Essary and his second wife Dela (Cordelia) Branstetter-maiden. John W. (1857) Essary had Martha (not pictured) Essary, John (Harrison) Essary (called Windy), Efton (Called Ef) Essary and Bertha May Essary who married a Young. John Wesley (1857) Essary's first child, James H. (1882)Essary, (from his first wife- Margaret B. Brnastetter) is also not pictured. James H. went by Jimmy Essary. I don't know why Jimmy and Martha aren't pictured, but maybe they were with relatives.
Now the Thomas you speak of could be the brother of John Wesley (1857) Jr. Essary, Thomas J. (1867) Essary, or he could be John W. Essary's uncle, Thomas (1802) Essary (born in NC).
