I am an Essam (at least for the next 6 months anyway) living in Eastbourne, East Sussex. My father Anthony Essam and grandfather Allan Essam have been tracing our family tree for some time and have gone back to 1700s. They have discovered our direct ancestors were from Northampton area and if my memory serves me correctly specifically a place called Thorpe something - (not very helpful I know) but if anyone has any useful information about Essams in that area then or has traced their own family line back to there please let me know and I will pass it on to them.
