Juanita Esquibel was the daughter of Miguel Esquibel and (Maria) Soledad Reyes. She was born in 1868 in Mora, New Mexico and baptized at Santa Gertrudis Catholic Church that year. Miguel and Soledad had four sons and possibly one other daughter in the 1880 census. Because Reyes is so rare in New Mexico, and because I have been unable to find a baptismal record for her, I have assumed that Soledad Reyes was probably full or half native american. Miguel appears to be from Las Vegas or San Miguel but have been unable to confirm that.

Hope that helps. Keep in touch.
