Llynn,
It appears you are using old information that has since been shown to be false (or at least not proven through documented sources).I have been trying to solve the problem of Manuela Antonia's connection to the immigrant Esquer family of Alamos.Although I, and other researchers I am working with, can't yet prove it, there is some evidence that she is related to Fernando Esquerra y Rosas.I tend to believe that this is another family (there is a family with this same name in Parral in the early 1600s).Fernando hails from Castile in his marriage record with Rosa Feliz (1741), Whereas the Juan Salvador family, originally from Navarra, lived for 3 generations in Seville, Andalusia, before immigrating to New Spain in 1695.Unfortunately, the priests often mixed up the families when recording the sacraments.
The name can be spelled various ways: Ezker (Basque), Ezquer(r), Esquer and sometimes even Hezquerr.
I hope this helps a bit.
Stella
